A Note from Principal Rommel

This past Monday Mrs. Bri VanHekken, our current school social worker, shared the bittersweet news that she would be moving up to Upton Middle School next school year. At Upton she will replace current school social worker, Beth Fairchild, who will be retiring at the end of this school year. Mrs. VanHekken began her Brown School career with the current fifth graders when they were in kindergarten and is excited to move to middle school with them. It is comforting to know that Mrs. VanHekken will be waiting for our students as they continue their career at Upton!

P.S. The video below is a short interview completed by our Brown Elementary School News team featuring Mrs. VanHekken sharing her news.

PositivityProjectCharacterTraitoftheWeek

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Leadership.

This strength means that you value each member of your group and inspire people to do their best. Leadership can be both formal and informal. It is concerned with getting others to do what needs to be done while maintaining group morale to ensure readiness to act in the future. This character strength’s focus is on the personal qualities of leaders, rather than the practice of leadership. These qualities include the ability to understand others and inspire them toward a common goal, the capacity to mitigate conflict and mold consensus, and the desire to lead other people.
