Math- continue Unit: 5.4 Wrapping Up Multiplication and Division with Multi-Digit Numbers

  •  Students use the standard algorithm to multiply multi-digit whole numbers. They divide whole numbers up to four digits by two-digit divisors using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
  • In grade 4, students multiplied two-digit by two-digit and one-digit by up to four-digit numbers using strategies based on place value understanding and the properties of operations. Students learned a partial product strategy for multiplication and represented it with diagrams and equations. This lesson allows teachers to see how students apply previous work to estimate and find products. Expect to see a wide range of strategies from students and be sure to listen to them as they explain their reasoning. In the synthesis, the strategies highlighted involve place value and properties of operations which will be built on in future lessons.

Week 10 10/30-11/3/2023

  Monday, October 30 Tuesday, October 31 Fall Parties Costume Parade 1st-5th @ 3:15 on playground It's been a tradition in my class that the students donate a dollar or two and we order Little Caser's pizza, breadsticks, and soda. However, they are allowed to bring in snacks as well. We have 29 kiddos. Our party will consist of Minecraft Education and other school-appropriate games. The day is so hectic that we only have about an hour to have a party. It will be broken up into segments. The students will eat pizza and socialize from 1:15-1:45. We will have our afternoon switch (science and social studies) from 1:45-2:15. The party will resume around 2:45. Reminders: Halloween reminders: Costumes can be worn to school so long as they are appropriate - no weapons, gore, or masks during the day (masks can be worn during the parade) Halloween parade at 3:15.
